Annnd I Changed My Mind...

The bedtime stories theme for Bubba's first birthday party is out. Although it is a super cute idea, Duglokk and I decided that we want to go with a farm themed party instead. Why? He got a Little People barn for Christmas and he loves it. He could sit and play with (chew on) those little animals all day long. I've got to admit that I am really excited about this party now.

My grandpa built a headboard for my cousin a few years back that is in the shape of a barn, so they are going to let us use that for some decoration at the party. One of the "windows" on the headboard is actually a picture frame so I'm probably going to get some pictures taken of Bubba in some overalls and a flannel to put in the frame. How cute would that be? I am seriously pumped.

This is what I am envisioning:

I am crazy about this mason jar drink dispenser from pottery barn! Too bad it is way out of my price range and I will not be purchasing it. :(

Of course, this is merely a vision and probably far off of what the actual party will be. I can always dream though! I am going to do my best for his party, that is for sure!

Birthday Party

I cannot believe I am saying, err typing, this, but my baby boy is going to be a year old in less than ten weeks. It is unbelievable how fast this past year has gone. I started planning last night for his big bash and I think it is safe to say that the majority of my posts are going to be documenting the planning process. I want to make this a GREAT party. I wasn't sure what theme I was going to go with since he is still much too little to actually appreciate a theme, but after searching for literally hours for different themes I found a really cute idea from Hostess With The Mostest. BEDTIME STORIES!

For more images and the full article about this awesome party, you can check out HWTM's blog here.

I am so excited to have a theme for this party! Now all I have to do is plan and run with it! Sooo excited!

ABC

Since Christmas is over I can finally blog about the stocking stuffers I made for Bubba. You might remember the blog post I wrote about them being a surprise for my mom and grandma. You can read that here. I have been so anxious to show everyone what it is!!

Magnetic Alphabet!! I made these cute little magnets out of assorted fabric, batting, and sturdy magnets. I just love them! They are so much cuter than the boring plastic ones. Not to mention, they are safer for young children as well. I can definitely see myself making a few more sets of these in the future. Maybe for birthday or Christmas gifts.

I have a blog? Oh yeah, I forgot.

I have been SLACKING. Ya know what, though? I really enjoyed staying slightly disconnected during the holidays. I say slightly because I do admit that I checked my facebook just about every single day. It's a problem I have, I know. Anyways, I really did enjoy my couple of weeks of holiday vacation. We traveled back to Illinois to spend it with our family and we had an excellent time with everyone. Not to mention how spoiled we were!!! Especially Bubba. That kid has just about everything a little baby could ever want. We truly are lucky to have such a big supportive family. :D

"King of the castle, king of the castle!"

Seriously, what child needs this much stuff?

He sure is a spoiled little butt. Oh well, you only have a first Christmas once, right? ;)

How did everyone else celebrate the holiday break? Did anyone get anything exciting? Leave a comment with your favorite gift! :)

Oh, The Places You Will Nap...

Sorry for my lack of posts lately. I've been busy working on my etsy orders! Gotta get these suckers done by Christmas and I'm stressing a little! I'll get them done though, I promise! I don't really have much to say right now, but I'll leave you with a few pictures of Bubs in his new-found napping area.

Please don't ask...

I really have no idea what is so comfortable(?) about this spot, but whatever works for him, I guess.

Table Food

After contemplating for a couple of weeks, I decided that Bubba was ready to start eating some table foods with us. Last night I headed to the store after my work out and I got Bubs a variety of ravioli, macaroni, chicken, and a few other pastas. Tonight was our first night with the new food (chicken and carrot ravioli) and some people might not agree with me, but I'd call it a success!

"What the heck is this stuff, Mom?"

"Can I play with it?"

"Hm, this isn't so bad!"

"OMNOMNOM!"

"What?! Spongebob?! Where?!"

"MOM! I'M DONE! YOU AREN'T GETTING ME OUT FAST ENOUGH! WAHH!!"

Oh, Christmas Cards...

The dreaded Christmas cards. Duglokk and I haven't quite decided whether we want to send them out or not. They are so much work and money and time and everything that we really just don't want to deal with. However, we did get some super cute pictures taken of Bubba by MISSLINDY.

I wasn't sure how we were going to afford to send out Christmas cards, so I was thinking about just emailing them until I found out about this awesome deal that Shutterfly is offering to bloggers. 50 FREE cards for bloggers! How awesome is that?

I have always been a big fan of Shutterfly. Their photo books are adorable and did I mention SIMPLE to make? Seriously, all you do is upload the pictures that you want and type in your names. Shutterfly does the rest. And not to mention, grandparents practically fall out of their chairs with how awesome they are. ;)

Anywho, I was searching through their enormous selection of Christmas cards (literally, there is 805 different styles) and I thought I'd share a few of my favorites with you guys. Maybe you can help me decide which one to choose since I cannot pick one for the life of me.

They are all too cute. I can't choose just one. The nice thing about Shutterfly is that you can put your picture in and see exactly how they will look. That makes choosing a little easier! Go check out all of the different Christmas card designs for yourself! They also have really nice address labels that you can get to match your cards, and if you want to go all out you can even get matching gift tags. Seriously?! How cute is that?!

If you have already sent out your cards for this year, you may want to check out some of their photo gifts instead. Family and friends would love to get a personalized photo gift of the loved ones in their life. Another one of my favorite gifts is the photo calendar. It is such a neat way to keep your loved ones in mind while at work.

(If you're a blogger and want to get 50 free cards click here).

I think I'll do a post later about my handmade Christmas stockings so check back in a few hours! ;)

Bubba's Scrapbook

I never wanted to have a traditional baby book for my children, so when I was pregnant with Bubba I decided that I would make him a scrapbook instead. Well, almost 9 months later and I am finally getting started! Go me! I'm such an over achiever, I know. (For those of you that don't know me and my sense of humor, I am extremely sarcastic).

I'm not sure what I'm going to put on the second page yet, but I'll figure it out. I better keep this short, though. Bubba is tearing the Christmas tree apart as I type! Bye for now!

My first post!

I'm sure nobody is reading this considering I just created this blog about 20 minutes ago, but I gotta start somewhere! I'll start off by sharing what I am envisioning this blog to become.

I plan on blogging about my adventures through motherhood, good and bad. Since I live away from family for the first time in my life, I feel like this blog will be a great way to stay connected with everyone back home and give them a little peek at what is going on in our lives.

I also plan on blogging about any crafts or projects that I am working on. I have some creative genes and I really enjoy trying out all sorts of DIY projects. I may even post some tutorials on here if I ever have time.

Well, that's wraps up my first post! I'll introduce the little family in the next one.
